Afterpast is a take on the Lockdown and Lockdown films that illustrate relatability in the period of Covid19, as it tries to evoke a need to come out of this as better humans. Afterpast, the created word and the idea, derive themselves from the aftermath of humankind’s sinful past, looking ahead into the hopeful future. It is a crowd sourced music video/film made along with the support of a humble sample size of diverse fellow humans, reflecting our collective yearning of the outdoors, which is a micro level insight, to throw immense light on macro issues that plague a global scale. Exploring the depth of how greed lies at the core of human nature, which is realized as we feel that the grass is always greener on the other side. The film is a looking glass into a shared consensus of humanness at its rawest. The core concept is tied to what lies in the core of humanity - greed. In sync with Prabh Deep’s words in Pandemic, Afterpast is an Alternate Music Video that brings immersive visuals to his words. Excuse my first film. My Side (2017), a student short made for K.C. College’s BMM festival, Blitz 2017. Winner :) The film, it’s the journey of an emotional breakout to a practical epiphany. Back in my third and final year of college is the first time I ever thought and executed in 24 frames per sec. It felt like an exaggerated first hand simulation to how the rest of my life will look like, as the famous reel saying goes, I didn’t want to work 9-5 so now I work 24/7. The entire journey of this film also helped us figure what feels illegal but isn’t, ‘making a student film in bollyland, with, “ajj to pakka jail!” being a persistent vibe on set and that’s also what made it thrilling, an ‘on the edge’ experience. On top of that having no experience whatsoever in any of the processes boiled everything down to, ‘how badly you want it?’ EXTREMELY :) Needless to say the first set of people who were by your side marching towards executing a collective vision, figuring every process on the go are to cherish forever. Excuse my 3rd film! Pooja & Prejudice (2017), made for Jai Hind College’s BMM festival, Detour 2017. Winner  It gives perspective to a phenomenon that occurred back then. If you existed in 2016/17, you will know. The first time I went with the first idea that popped in due to the lack of time, but wouldn’t have had it any other way. This one makes me miss college a little too much. The irreplaceable energy of doing whatever the you want to. The freedom of going completely bizarre and not being answerable / accountable to no one. An experiment, it’s a product of tremendous lack of actual ideas and supreme amount of limitations. Also a wannabe topical IPL ad where some basic rules of advertising have been duly ignored, P s are sort of there but not how they should be. Not stopping there, some film gimmicks have been cutely exploited as well. I like reality so although it might sound like a spoof full of sarcasm but that directly points at the issues with our social construct of living in fantasy, preaching the unreal and eventually finding all truths harsh, instead of embracing them. The 😳 meme 😜 world 🌍 nuances 🧮📝 like 😳 typing 👨🏻‍💻📲 with ➕ emojis 👁👄👁 and wRiTiNg LiKe tHiS for sarcasm, are major contributors to the treatment and visuals since that’s the least we can do for this generations most efficient source of information and reality. (Yes it’s a separate world and a whole new pond of ideas to pick from) Also, Yes I made all that reasoning up after I had a blast when the music I went for, fit perfectly with the second take of the voice over recording and every word somehow fell right on some beat that left me feeling like I am some Yashraj Mukhate. Further my excuses include, I made this in one night, in one room, on the last day of my covid quarantine. Thanks to Zomato for extending the deadline right before I upload, so I could sleep over it and go back to it and follow the regular procrastinating routine for a few days and add more nuances to it, fully convince myself and be comfortable with whatever this has turned out to be.
